It turns out you need the right gear to pull off those fancy Pinterest recipes. So, here are 5 kitchen must-haves that are essential for any new apartment. If you’re moving or just reorganizing, use this list and prepare for culinary greatness.

1. Sharp Knife Set:
You might think this is a no brainer, but cooking mistake #1 is cooking or preparing food with dull knives. Not only is it a lot harder, but using them can crush your meat and make your vegetables mushy. (Bonus tip: mushy veggies are gross.) Invest in a set of good knives and keep them sharp, they are top of the kitchen must-haves.

2. Food Processor:
If you have a great knife set, but are too busy to use it for chopping, a food processor is a must. For finely chopped veggies for salads, soups, or stir fry, this is the gadget to get. Oh, you enjoy chicken salad? Food processor. Hummus? Food processor. Every recipe ever? Food processor.

3. Set of Mixing Bowls:
We’re not trying to make you feel bad, but cavemen had mixing bowls. Cavemen. Get a stainless steel set with a few different sizes for tossing salads, baking, stirring up a marinade, or whipping up some guacamole. They’re an essential part of any kitchen or cave.

4. Wooden Spoons and Spatulas:
Wooden mixing spoons and spatulas are the healthiest options for your stirring needs. Plastic eventually melts when left in hot pots, and metal can scratch the Teflon lining off of your fancy pans. Teflon might spice up that soup, but we’d still recommend wooden utensils. Here’s a great article on the benefits of Wooden utensils compared to plastic or metal.

5. Cast Iron Skillet:
A Cast iron skillet is one of the kitchen must-haves will forever change the way you way you cook and do dishes. They should never be scrubbed or put in a dishwasher because the best part about them is the years of built up grease on the pan. Fry up some chicken or even bake a frittata in this thing, and your friends will be begging you for more. Cast Iron used in the video was from our friends at Lodge.

There you have it. Get this gear and you’re on your way to becoming a master chef even Bobby Flay would envy. Never heard of Bobby? It’s fine. Start with the knife set.
